Introduction

(Just Like) Art School and Edgeland Modern is a curatorial team and an experimental art project space based (generally) in and around the edges of Brighton and Lewes, East Sussex. Also running a series of regular and one-off Art School-style* workshops.

*References to Art School are generally made with serious nods to the Art School** approaches and experiences of the 1960’s-1990’s.

**Before it all went a bit tick-boxey.

Edgeland Landscapes

We looked for the magic in the marginal space beyond the residential in Woodingdean’s Happy Valley. We followed the desire paths through the hawthorns and, despite a light drizzle, drew the sturdy little bushes we sat amongst.

Pop-up Exhibition

We held a pop-up at Martyrs’ Gallery showing what we’d produced in our Early Spring ‘(Un)Still Lives’ workshops, giving us an opportunity to do a ‘show-and-tell’.

Visual Narratives: Figure Drawing
