Panoramic Views

Looking and Seeing: the birds-eye view

Another opportunity to observe and draw with artist Pat Thornton, responding to the views from Newhaven’s Marine Workshop Gallery.

Its uppermost windows offer panoramic views of Newhaven harbour on one side and the Sussex Downs and River Ouse on the other. The workshop will focus on a combination of looking and recording what is noticed, using observational drawing, words and collage on long strips of panoramic paper.

No experience necessary – just come along, take in and respond to the breath taking birds-eye views from this enormous top floor space.

Materials provided: panoramic strips of cartridge paper, coloured and graphite pencils, pens, collage papers and glue sticks. You will also have advice on folding your paper to create a concertina book of completed drawings. Suitable for both complete beginners and experienced artists. Assistance will be provided to those who would like it.
