Like a sketchbook? Like a Commonplace book? Published? Printed? Bound?
Let’s sellotape some stuff together. Or staple it. Maybe we’ll bind our drawings together with string, or make a statement about what we think. But in pictures. Who knows? You do.
We’ll have a discussion of what an Artists’ Book might be and demonstrations of various techniques. You’ll be provided with materials that’ll inspire you to make your own bespoke artists’ sketchbook, journal or folder. We’ll lead you through a creative process, with emphasis placed on the enjoyment of the ‘making’ activity (customising and collating pages and binding), as well as advise and inspiring prompts to make sure the original artists’ book/pamphlet you take home is unique to you. We’ll probably drink copious amounts of tea or coffee, and there’ll be plenty of scope to indulge your creative spirit, guided in the production of an individual, bound artists’ book.

This event is suitable for experienced artists and absolute beginners, who will be offered guidance if requested. An artists’ book is a unique object: a sketchbook, journal or folder for memorabilia, thoughts, statements, ideas and stuff.
